Carlos J.E. Guzman

Carlos J.E. Guzman was born in Upland, California in 1975.  He graduated in 1998 from the University of California, San Diego, where he was an history and political science double major with minors in Scientific Perspectives and Ethnic Studies.  While at UCSD, he was a member of MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan) and was employed by the Office of Students with Disabilities.

Carlos earned his juris doctorate in 2001 from the University of San Diego School of Law, during which time he interned with and was employed by the American Civil Liberties Union, Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights, San Diego County Office of the Public Defender and USD Disabled Student Services.  During this time, Carlos also earned the award for Best Visiting Student Advocate in the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program.  Carlos has been a plaintiffs' advocate in asbestos litigation since August 2001 (at Kazan, McClain, et al.), joining Paul & Hanley in March 2004.  Carlos is a member of the State Bar of California, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California, East Bay La Raza Lawyers Association and San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association.
