More than 1.3 million U. S. construction workers are exposed to asbestos each year. It is estimated that there will be about 250,000 cases of malignant Mesothelioma before 2020.

Over 27 million people in the U. S. are at risk of developing malignant Mesothelioma from asbestos exposure. Asbestos manufactures knew of the long term dangers of asbestos exposure but chose to ignore or downplay the role asbestos played in many reported illnesses.

More than 10,000 Americans in the U. S. will be diagnosed with Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases each year. Malignant Mesothelioma is a rare cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, abdomen, heart and major organs of the body.

The number of people diagnosed with asbestos caused diseases in the U.S. continues to increase. Experts believe 60,000 mesothelioma deaths will occur between 2010 and 2030. The 3 main treatments for Mesothelioma are: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

Malignant Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos through ingestion or inhaling of microscopic asbestos fibers as small .3 microns. Mesothelioma symptoms may not appear for 10-40 years after first exposure.

Jerry was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  While earning an undergraduate degree at California State University, Northridge, he was a member of the Teamsters Union.  While loading and unloading UPS trucks, union representatives were vital in saving Jerry's job.  From that day, Jerry clearly understood the importance and benefit of what it means to be a union brother.

While continuing his education through law school at San Fernando Valley College of Law, Jerry became the sole proprietor of his own insurance brokerage business.  In 1980, he also opened up a legal practice. Five years later, Jerry sold the insurance brokerage business to devote his career to the law and representation of workers.  As Jerry's law practice grew, he formed Law Offices of Jerry Neil Paul.  Eventually Jerry teamed up in 1999 with Dean Hanley to form Paul & Hanley LLP. Then towards the end of 2011 Dean retired effective March 2012 with Jerry re-organizing again as the Law Offices of Jerry Neil Paul.

Jerry's vision has created a firm known for producing some of the highest settlements and verdicts in the United States. He has continued to work with union members and those harmed by occupational injuries and disease and now serves as the union attorney liaison for all thirty of California's Pipe Fitters Local Unions, including Steamfitters, Plumbers, Welders, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, as well as Bricklayers Local 4, Boilermakers Lodge 549, and Boilermaker Lodge 92.

During his career, Jerry has been admitted to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court.  He has been appointed as a mediator to arbitrate Manville asbestos bankruptcy claim appeals and serves as an arbitrator for the Eagle Pitcher Industry Bankruptcy Victims Trust Fund.  He is a Fellow of the Pound Civil Justice Institute, an institute dedicated to the cause of promoting access to the civil justice system.   Mr. Paul maintains an active membership in state and local bar associations, trial lawyer associations, and consumer attorneys associations.  Jerry also is the founding board member of the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America, whose mission is to fund research for a mesothelioma cure.
