Jerry was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  While earning an undergraduate degree at California State University, Northridge, he was a member of the Teamsters Union.  While loading and unloading UPS trucks, union representatives were vital in saving Jerry's job.  From that day, Jerry clearly understood the importance and benefit of what it means to be a union brother.

While continuing his education through law school at San Fernando Valley College of Law, Jerry became the sole proprietor of his own insurance brokerage business.  In 1980, he also opened up a legal practice. Five years later, Jerry sold the insurance brokerage business to devote his career to the law and representation of workers.  As Jerry's law practice grew, he formed Paul & Hanley LLP with Dean Hanley.  Today, the firm employs over sixty attorneys, investigators, and staff.

Jerry's vision has created a firm known for producing some of the highest settlements and verdicts in the United States. He has continued to work with union members and those harmed by occupational injuries and disease and now serves as the union attorney liaison for all thirty of California's Pipe Fitters Local Unions, including Steamfitters, Plumbers, Welders, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, as well as Bricklayers Local 4, Boilermakers Lodge 549, and Boilermaker Lodge 92

During his career, Jerry has been admitted to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court.  He has been appointed as a mediator to arbitrate Manville asbestos bankruptcy claim appeals and serves as an arbitrator for the Eagle Pitcher Industry Bankruptcy Victims Trust Fund.  He is a Fellow of the Pound Civil Justice Institute, an institute dedicated to the cause of promoting access to the civil justice system.   Mr. Paul maintains an active membership in state and local bar associations, trial lawyer associations, and consumer attorneys associations.  Jerry also is the founding board member of the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America, whose mission is to fund research for a mesothelioma cure.
