Kelly A. McMeekin was born in Palo Alto, California.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 1987, then attended law school at Golden Gate University School of Law. While in law school, Kelly was a Judicial Extern at the California Supreme Court and a member of the Golden Gate University Law Review.  She was listed on the National Dean's List and graduated from law school with honors.  Since then, she has represented injured consumers and their families in a variety of personal injury and wrongful death actions.  She has significant experience in toxic tort litigation, including the handling of products liability cases involving exposure to benzene and beryllium.  In addition, she has represented individuals injured by the medical negligence of physicians and their staff.

These days, Kelly spends most of her time working on trial and appellate matters.  Recently, her work in Stewart v. Union Carbide Corp.  led to a written, appellate opinion rejecting the sophisticated purchaser defense, which Union Carbide had hoped to use in an effort to escape liability for its negligence.
