The number of people diagnosed with asbestos caused diseases in the U.S. continues to increase. Experts believe 60,000 mesothelioma deaths will occur between 2010 and 2030.

Work related injuries harm up to 14 million people annually, with harms including traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, amputations, burns, and electrocutions. Around 20,000 to 60,000 workers die each year from accidents, toxins, and violence at their jobs.

Defects can occur when a product is designed poorly, when a product is manufactured in a manner that differs from the intended design, or when the product does not contain proper warnings or instructions. Langston M. Edwards

L

angston M. Edwards is a litigation associate in Paul & Hanley’s Los Angeles office.  His practice emphasizes torts ranging from negligence to products liability.  Mr. Edwards has experience working in all aspects of litigation.  His litigation work includes handling cases from inception through settlement, including planning case management and strategy, propounding and responding to discovery, taking depositions, and preparing and opposing various law and motions matters.

Langston earned a B.A. in Economics and a minor in International Relations from San Francisco State University where he served on the Board of Associated Students as representative to the Department of Behavioral Sciences.

After graduation, Langston committed years serving various San Francisco high schools, middle schools and community based organizations as a member of AmeriCorps.

Shortly thereafter, Langston earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.  While in law school, Langston participated in the university’s Brazilian exchange program where he worked as a consultant on U.S. law for the Office of the State Attorney General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Langston also served as co-chair of the Black Law Students Association and member of the International Law Society.

Langston became a lawyer because of the ability it provides him to make a serious difference in his clients' lives.  As an attorney with Paul & Hanley, he lives his mission every day.
