How do I Know if I Work for a Company That Uses These Chemicals?

In order to protect yourself, it is important to be aware of what hazardous materials are used in the workplace.  If you are not sure you should ask your company what specific chemicals are used and what their potential for harm is.  You may also want to check the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for more information on workplace hazards and how to deal with them.  Learn your rights as a worker.

It is not possible to list all industries and companies that use toxic materials, chemicals and gases.  However, one easily identifiable industry is the computer chip industry.  Major manufacturers include:  National Semiconductor, VIA /Cyrix, Intel, IBM, Motorola, Digital (Compaq), Zilog, Texas Instruments, Apple Computer, IDT, ITT, Sematech AT&T, Renaissance Microsystems, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Micron Technology.  Since all of these companies use similar production techniques, it is possible that workers have been exposed to toxic chemicals.
