How Can I Help?

How Can I Help Paul & Hanley Win My Case?

To build a strong case that will make asbestos companies want to settle quickly, or fear going into court; we need to build a strong paper trail.  You can give us information on your work and medical history.  This list shows the type of documents we are usually looking for.  But don't let this long list intimidate you.  Even if you can't find most of the records below, our investigators will be able to find what we need even with the most basic information by getting company and medical records directly.

  • Any employment records, especially those showing where you worked and people who worked with you.
  • Paychecks/paystubs of all the companies you have worked for, or a list of the companies you worked for with the full name, address, city, and dates of employment.
  • Letters from the company (usually from the human resources department) discussing any work-related injuries or disabilities you may have had.
  • Medical records, especially those related to asbestos exposure or other toxic exposures (benzene, lead, manganese, beryllium, etc.).
  • A list of toxic products (with brand names if possible) you may have worked with like thermal pipe insulation, fireproofing spray, cements, welding rods, et cetera.
  • Photographs of work sites (including in your own home) where you may have been exposed to toxic products.  These are especially good if they show the harmful products like brake pads or insulation with the product name visible.
  • A list of coworkers, supervisors and managers you worked with at each company, with any contact information if possible (even just a last known city of residence).  It also helps if you have the last known location, approximate age, names of family members, and any other distinguishing identifiers (accents/ personal stories).
  • A list of home projects you have done like brake repair and home remodeling with dates.
  • Any receipts or records (like a building permit) relating to home projects.
  • Tell us about any possible asbestos-containing materials you still have so we can have them tested for asbestos.  For instance, Bakelite materials you may have taken home from the Navy.
  • Photographs of you during different time periods of your life, not necessarily taken at or around their jobsites.
  • A list of all previous residences.
  • Finally, read this list of jobs that often use asbestos to help jog your memory of places you may have come in contact with asbestos

What Should I do if I don’t Have All of Those Records With All the Details?

Don’t worry, our invesitgators will do the rest of the work for you.  For instance, you may remember the name of a company you worked for in the ‘70s and the city it was located in, but not have the street address or the telephone number.  We have handled so many of these cases that we probably already have that information in our own records.  And if we don’t, we are very good at finding it.  Just give us as much information as you have and we will do the rest.  In our first fews meetings and phone calls we will be asking you questions to try to help you remember some of the important details, or where you might have stored those records.  Having detailed information from you speeds things up, but if you don’t have it, we will find it for you.

We may also show you photographs of products known to be harmful to see if you can identify them.  Our investigators, with your permission, will get information on you directly from the companies you worked for, and also get full medical records from your doctors and hospitals.  Then we'll have all of the information that is out there so we can build a solid case.  That is how you can help us win.
