Washington Mesothelioma Statistics – Asbestos Exposure Deaths

Washington State received 63,610 tons of asbestos vermiculite (981 asbestos shipments) in 33 locations from Libby, Montana during the years 1948-1993.

Washington State had 806 residents die of malignant Mesothelioma during 1979-2001.

Washington State had the 8th highest rate of asbestos-related deaths in the U. S. between 1979 and 2001.

According to government statistics, up till 2001, at least 1,730 Washington residents have dies from asbestos related disease since 1979.

Washington States age-adjusted death rate for malignant Mesothelioma is 15.9 deaths per million per year according to CDC statistics.

A recent asbestos study showed that 1 in 125 American males will die of Mesothelioma or an asbestos related disease that live older than age 50.

There were 18,068 malignant Mesothelioma deaths in the U. S. between the years 1999-2005.

Males account for more than 80% of the total number of deaths from Malignant Mesothelioma.
